It has been brought to my attention by an astute owner that MFL does not let you submit an incomplete lineup. However in a contract league like ours sometimes an owner has reason to field an incomplete lineup.
I have discovered a workaround to this. MFL does allow us to have Custom Players who are manually scored. So, if you ever find yourself in a situation where you feel you need to submit an incomplete lineup just let me know and I will make a Custom Player and assign him to your team.
As Commissioner, I retain all rights to name Custom Players.
I fully expect everyone to forget this now and freak out late next season when someone runs out of safeties.

I fully expect this to be an issue when i dont have a kicker whichever week the eagles are on a bye.

If you have cap $, but a full roster... I assume that teams are expected to buy out a contract to free a spot to sign a backup kicker for that week?

No I'll increase the roster size. Already thought of that.

Increase the roster size for the ficticious player that fills the hole for a team that has their cap maxed?. To further clarify....
My question is relating to teams that have cap room to be able to pick up a kicker, but a full roster. I would think that team needs to buy out a contract to pick up a kicker to fullfill their mandatory starting lineup? That is part of managing a team in FF, right? Or are you going to allow people to not have to do roster jockeying to cover kicker bye weeks, if they chose to only carry one when it's 100 % certain that they will need a second kicker for at least one week of the season.
Or... are you allowing everyone to ignore the kicker position with a ficticious player at the kicker position, even for teams that can afford to buy out a contract on their roster and sign a kicker to cover the bye week. In that case, I would move that we just drop the kicker position entirely. There is no point to having to start a kicker in FF other then to create an issue that teams have to cover the bye week and use their managerial skills. I don't see how the kicker serves any other purpose and this is being said by the person who beat Bob in the playoffs only because his kicker (Carpenter MIA) scored like -10 points that week and cost him the game.

My understanding was that it was a custem player with custom scoring and would have a 0 score not that I would be getting points on that week.

Yes, custom player scores nothing. Is the customer player available for anyone at any time when they don't feel like making a roster change? If a team has cap room, are they required to make a roster move to fill the hole in their required starting lineup? The custom player came up because I questioned how a team that is maxed out on cap was to submit a lineup. However, I don't see the requirement of having no cap money to make a roster change to get a customer player that scores nothing. Is the customer player to be used a crutch for people as a means to get around having to buy out a player to make a roster spot to sign someone to fill the required starting position, or is the customer player only available to those who have a maxed cap and have no other recourse to fill that required starting position?
I don't see a full breakdown of when the concept is going to be instituted or available.

Dan Carpenter also lost me playoff games and is forever banned from all my teams.
I am prepared to do this upon request without judgment on the reasons behind it. Personally I think not fielding a player at every position is stoopid and am also prepared to use a little lighthearted shame and mockery to limit its use. But I don't want to put myself in a position to mandate a certain strategy upon owners. One of the scenarios that might call for a Custom Player is the kicker flip flop, as you suggest. To me this only adds another wrinkle of strategy: do I burn $1-2 cap space or do i not field a kicker one week? As for myself, I leave that decision every year to my kicker's bye week - and I deliberately pick a kicker with an early bye week - and every year I decide I must field a complete lineup and spend the $1-2. Since it has been our custom all along I am happy to tweak things on the new site so it may continue. Of course if I can convince MFL to change that setting, this is all completely moot.
This concept will be instituted as of week 1 and is available upon request. However it does behoove the owner to get their request in as early as possible because I am not available much for this kind of stuff Sunday mornings.
If anything, I'm in favor of adding positions, starting with punters and separate DTs.

I will be needing a fictitious kicker for the coming week to complete a lineup. Can he be Dan Carpenter II in recognition to the originals absolutley horrible play that helped me beat Bob in the playoffs. Good times.

Oh and I had some great kicker names already picked out. Are you sure you don't want to go with Horst Plotz? ETA: I see you're playing me so you get who I tell you.

Any name would be fine. I would insist on Dan Carpenter II if I was playing Bob, but I look forward to being surprised.
