Average Hero's new management have clearly been trying to rebuild the troubled franchise by trying to get their cap down and move older players in a youth movement. Yesterday, the Hero's announced a trade that brought in Matt Forte and Ahmad Bradshaw. In their press conference, Hero's management stated that they had to take into consideration what was best for their team. "We were looking to possibly move the picks and we pretty much told everyone that", said the Hero's GM... "but the deal we took was too good to wait on and possibly have the other team reconsider once the pick was on the clock". When asked about the salary cap implications, Hero's management pointed to the $6 salary of LT and the $4 they spent this year in buyouts as more then canceling out the $7 of Forte's salary.
There are apparently deals still on the table for the 1.6 pick that the Hero's may also trade if one of their guys isn't there. Hero's management said that is was a cost of doing business to let the Roughriders in front of them, because the deal for the 1.5 was a lot sweeter then the deal for the 1.6. The salary cap impications get a little tighter when considering to trade the 1.6 as well. One unnamed source from the Hero's war room said that they were holding their breath and hoping that the Roughriders don't mess up their draft board.
Towards the end of the press conference, Hero's new owner stated that he'd wished he'd owned the team at the time of the actual draft, since that would have saved him having to rebuild a team that is only one year old.

The Average Hero's management is very excited by the coming season. According to sources close to the team, D.Ward and M.Thomas may not be with the team in week 1.
D.Ward was a piece of a larger deal that the Hero's only took on to make the deal work. Ward hasn't been cut to date because the team wasn't sure if they would have enough viable RB's to complete a starting lineup. However, the addition of Forte and Bradshaw sured up the RB position pretty well. The team's investment in L.White also appears to have panned out, which leaves Ward the odd man out to make room to bring in free agents.
M.Thomas was traded for just before the practice squad closed. Pretty much the same story as Ward. The Hero's brought him in because they felt the 2010 WR rookie crop was thin compared to last year and there wouldn't be a WR after the 2nd round with Thomas's upside. Then the team picked up MoMass and the investment in L.Murphy is about to pay off with his situation getting some huge improvement. The team also has high hopes for D.Aromashodu to pay off big dividends. Add D.Thomas to the mix at WR and it becomes pretty clear that M.Thomas's time on the PS might be coming to an end.
When asked about the rumers, Hero's GM stated yesterday, "we are very happy with our offseason. When we took this team over it looked like it was going to be a huge uphill battle to get it wipped into shape, but now we are very optomistic and think we can surprise some people this year. We have to always be looking to turn over the bottom of our roster so we can get better, but I'm not sure what that means right now since no final determinations have been made."

There was some unrest in the Hero's coaching staff as the rookie signing period was closing. The Average Hero's GM stated that someone on their staff appears to have provided the Claymores with the idea of not signing a rookie, so they could get a more favorable contract term in free agency.
Hero's GM stated in a press conference that they had this idea over a month ago. Hero's coaching staff and research department went through the rules with a fine tooth comb to ensure there were no rules against such a move to benefit the team.
It is clear that the Claymores wouldn't have had enough time to properly research the option this late in the game. WIth Tate going on the block and then LaFell, it's clear to the Hero's GM that the Claymores were in need of some help and that the help came from an unautherized PM from someone on the Hero's staff. The Hero's coaching staff had the idea to not sign a rookie, if they saw the right combination of player and price to execute the move. The source of the information leak is still unknown and no one came forward, so the GM has cleared house of the coaching staff. Unfortunitly, there are not a lot of highly qualified applicants available at this point in the season, so the Hero's had to chose from what was available.
Average Hero's have also completed their coaching search and are very excited about the group they have put togehter. The coaches have been updated on the teams roster page.

Don't look now, but the Average Hero's aren't playing so average. The new management has really turned this team around from the over-payed and half-hearted team that played out the end of last year. Hero's head coach said that the team was playing pretty consistant and he was happy with the results so far, but there is still work to do. "We still have a lot of work to do to get our guys in here and once we do... we are looking to win a championship or three", said coach.
The Average Hero's were thought to possibly be the worst team in the league at one point over the offseason, but the new management and coaching staff have them currently at 2-1, defeated the defending champs, and they have scored the third most points to this point. The hard work by the new management is paying dividends at thsi point. Watch out DFFL, the Average Hero's just might be for real.

After an unfortunite loss for the Average Hero's to the Tulsa Roughnecks, Average Hero management voiced their displeasure for the teams performance.
Hero's management is extremely unhappy with several players performances to date this year. At the top of that list is R.Gould. The GM said last evening, "If I had a dollar for every time he has failed to produce... actually, if I had a dollar he wouldn't be on the team any longer, because I'd get another kicker". It appears that the coaching staff is placing this loss squarely on R.Gould's shoulders. After R.Gould on the disapointment list is likely J.Vilma, who has also vastly underperformed so far this year. The WR position has obviously been a struggle, but that was expected to be an issue coming into the year.
Hero's head coach said after the loss, "It's frustrating. You have to beat the teams that are behind you in the standings. If you can't beat the teams who are behind you... you'll never catch the ones in front of you".

The Average Hero's are still alive and kicking.... somehow. There are some loose ends remaining in their current week matchup, but it looks like the Hero's should be victorious and move on to play for that championship.
Hero's head coach said yesterday, "I don't think I've ever heard of a situation where you think you're playing one team, but find out you're playing someone else after the game has already started." Luckily, the schedule change was a surprise for both teams, so there was no real advantage or disadvantage.
Once the Average Hero's finalize their current matchup with a victory over the Claymore's, they'll be only one win from fullfilling their head coaches crazy prediction. During the week 9 games, the head coach actaully predicted that the Average Hero's were going to win it all this year. It's likely that many doubted this prediction, but the team keeps progressing.
S.Smith NYG was aquired to attempt to solidify their WR's for the play off run, but then lost him to IR. There is still a huge issue with the talent at the WR position and there are only two active DL players on the team, but the team appears to believe in the new head coach and is leaving everything on the field. The Average Hero's beat the Roughriders during the season because some players stepped up at the WR positions. Without a contribution from the WR position, it's likely going to be extremely hard to beat the well rounded Roughrider team.
